There is no way around it – today was yet another sad day in America.  What took place in the small Connecticut town of Newtown could have happened anywhere in the good ole U.S.A.  One can only shake their head at the continued madness.  Tonight’s post isn’t about gun control or people who are lost and do really bad things – it’s more a statement of fact that we as a society need to wake up and look around at the madness taking place all around us.  Perhaps the saddest quote from today was a young girl at the ripe old age of 8 after telling her mother that she was glad to be safe, but was so sad for her schoolmates – stated, “I guess this is my 9-11, and will be with me forever.”  Wow – not sure about you, but we find this statement heartbreaking.

In our opinion, it’s time – – – time to take back the pride in our country, take back our streets, take back the rights of each human being to be respected and most importantly to be safe whenever they are – especially our students in their classrooms.  As a nation we cannot let this madness prevail – bring God back into our homes and our culture.  This is a topic that we could “soapbox” for the next 261 posts – but tonight we won’t dwell.  Instead, we take time to pray for the families that lost a loved one today in a random act of violence.  Let us join together and be thankful for all that we have knowing that on any given day tragedy could strike our family.

We diden’t really think about the wine we chose for tonight – in fact, our hearts were heavy and didn’t even open up the green label shown above until almost 10 p.m.  We got this wine at Central Market under guidance of Andy.  We didn’t even know what type of grape Monastrell was. There are plenty of interesting versions available. Apparently, the best have rich black fruit, hints of peppery spice and game red meat. Aromas of exotic dark berries, and smoky minerals. The wine was sweet and sappy in mouth, displaying blackberry and cassis flavors. Great spice and long firm finish.  Not so  sure we would go out of our way to purchase again, but not bad for $12.74 it was worth a try – perhaps pumped up for the night will do the bottle some good – will let you know later.

As we close for tonight, we remind ourselves not the lose faith in our God, our society and the decency of most human beings.  Let’s not let the random acts against the innocent destroy our mission of making the world a better place.  Hold tight to your family, not just after tragedy’s like today, but everyday – because life is truly too short.  Our God is a good and gracious God and He will not forsake us.

The sun will come up tomorrow morning and we will face our challenges head on – in the meantime, please remember to enjoy responsibly and recycle whenever possible.
